A couple of years ago, fashion for me was just an idea in my mind. As I was growing up, I realised my love for drawing and art in general and, therefore, for fashion, which was gradually evolved from an idea into a life dream. My life dream. Through my two-year attendance in PLAKAS foundation I was experimented with new materials and new techniques, I learned about fashion history and I gained a lot of knowledge on that section and everything related generally to fashion. I am very interested to focus on the texture, geometric shapes, colours, materials and generally on many different things that will give me the opportunity to learn each one’s properties and will help me to find out what my preferences are. For me, it is an extraordinary idea to transform any possible existing shape into fashion by using new materials, sketching all the time and learning new things. This is what I wanted to express through my projects. I used all my imagination on each of them and I did my best to have the best results.
As I am very influenced by nature I wanted to transfer some of its elements in my projects by making the “Phytomorphic” project where I decided to design clothes inspired by the four seasons and each dress corresponds to each one. I thought it would be more aesthetically nice if I was making a relative background to make it more interesting.
Among the ideas that I was asked to make up for some projects, was also the design of a dress with tumors. From this particular dress resulted three different elements which reminded separately: shell, rope and lily so I decided to design clothes and shoes for each one of these items.
Three of the projects are based on the garment in relation to history, the traditional costumes of a variant, in which everyone can distinguish the traditional elements derived from customs and traditions of those years. I was inspired by several photos and exhibitions I saw such us the exhibition I visited to the Tinguely museum in Basel from where I drew a lot of information and inspiration. Because of my enthusiasm, I decided to create a medieval suit combining two disparate, between them, fabrics. Armor with lace.
It was a challenge for me, to set up and organize a fashion editorial based on the dress that I designed and created inspired from the soldier armor.
Through garment can someone learn details about history, traditions and customs of a country. Greek traditional costumes were an inspiration to me and I tried to create designs by combining elements of traditional Greek clothing with a contemporary aesthetic view.
Furthermore, the creation of patterns is an attempt to explore the concept of symmetry, geometry, rhythm, repetition, synthesis. Being inspired by the artist Bridget Riely I attempted to create patterns that give the sense of illusion.
At last, I made a series of projects studying the human figure, as the core of my work revolves around human figure, the attitude, and the anatomy. Because of this, I have worked closely to human body and the free drawing.
